Geotechnical Engineer
Hydroelectricity and Dams

gbi is experiencing significant expansion and is looking to strengthen its technical teams.

As such, we are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer – Hydropower and Dams to join our Energy and Industrial department. Working closely with management, this individual will contribute to challenging and large-scale projects in the renewable energy and industrial sectors. They will use their expertise to ensure the smooth running of the division’s operations, while actively participating in the development of this specialty within the firm.

The challenges that await you

  • Participate in the planning, monitoring and analysis of geotechnical investigations
  • Carry out the engineering of foundations, dikes and embankment dams as part of projects for new installations or the repair of existing structures
  • Contribute to studies assessing the safety of embankment structures
  • Carry out the inspection of foundations and embankment retaining structures
  • Provide technical assistance to infrastructure and building projects
  • Carry out studies, analyses and design calculations
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports, plans and specifications
  • Collaborate with technicians and engineers on projects, provide supervision when required Contribute to project management for their discipline, and monitor schedules and budgets in conjunction with the project manager
  • Provide technical support for construction, from the office and/or on site
  • Establish and maintain relationships with our clients, acting as an ambassador to them

The profile we’re looking for

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in civil, geological or other relevant engineering
  • Have a minimum of 10 years of experience in hydraulic structure engineering or hydroelectric projects
  • Be a member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec Have excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Collaborate effectively within a team
