Saputo Plant

Saputo Plant

gbi carried out the design of the Saputo plant in Ville Saint-Laurent, a major 123,400 sq. ft. industrial project that integrates innovative technical solutions to meet specific production and storage needs.

The plant’s steel structure offers exceptional open space thanks to 40-foot spans and 50-foot columns, optimizing high-bay storage, forklift circulation, and spatial flexibility. The building also includes refrigerated areas, featuring a 19,000 sq. ft. freezer and a 34,700 sq. ft. refrigerated warehouse, meeting the requirements of industrial freezing and cheese fermentation processes.

To ensure the building’s stability on low-bearing-capacity soil, gbi proposed on-site dynamic compaction, allowing the use of conventional foundations instead of a deep pile system. This solution reduced costs and accelerated the construction schedule.

The project also includes 460 parking spaces and 30 loading bays, while meeting strict economic and technical constraints. Through its proactivity and expertise in industrial construction and civil engineering, gbi delivered a facility that meets Saputo’s expectations, combining innovation, durability, and functionality.
