The mandate entrusted to gbi involved designing and constructing the infrastructure to provide Île Notre-Dame with full autonomy for its private network connection, a first step toward making the site “smart.”

gbi’s teams implemented a major wired capacity by installing nearly 3.5 km of fiber optic cable, along with 17 enclosures, each with 6 output points, positioning the island as a reference technological site.

Globally recognized thanks to the Formula 1 Grand Prix, Jean-Drapeau Park welcomes thousands of visitors from around the world every year. As part of this project, gbi’s specialized telecommunications and intelligent systems teams were tasked with deploying a fiber optic network and electrical services, helping make Île Notre-Dame a pioneering site for a smart city. This project supports the vitality of Montreal’s tourism industry and strengthens its international reputation.
