Route 335 in Saint-Lin-Laurentides
2021

As part of road project planning, gbi was mandated to carry out a preliminary pre-design study on a 4.8 km section of Route 335 in Saint-Lin-Laurentides. The main objective was to propose safe and efficient traffic solutions for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians in a heavily trafficked area.
This study represents a key step in launching transportation projects, identifying needs, constraints, and the best technical alternatives.
To improve traffic flow and safety on Route 335, gbi’s team recommended several interventions, including the addition of left-turn lanes in both directions, reconfiguration of certain intersections to optimize traffic, and the addition or modification of traffic signals as needed. The study also included bringing driveway entrances and road lighting up to standards, as well as an analysis for the potential development of a roundabout at the junction of Routes 158 and 335.
Technical Aspects and Challenges
This project presented several technical and contextual challenges :
- Population growth requiring adaptation of road capacity
- Integration of a safe cycling network
- Modification of an existing traffic signal
- Extension of culverts and adjustment of drainage
- Relocation of certain public utilities to allow for the improvements
- Complete upgrading of road lighting to meet standards
gbi’s approach successfully balanced safety, traffic flow, and accessibility for all users while complying with technical and regulatory constraints.
