gbi carried out the final capping works for cells 10 and 12 of the Chibougamau landfill site, a key project aimed at ensuring environmental compliance, infrastructure performance, and long-term site sustainability.

The mandate included the capping of approximately 3,700 m², involving the installation of a multi-layer waterproofing system using geosynthetics, the development of a passive biogas collection system, the construction of drainage ditches, as well as waste profiling and waste transshipment.

Completed within a tight seven-week schedule, the project required close coordination among all stakeholders. In addition to the planned works, several issues identified in previously capped cells were corrected without affecting the timeline. A training component was also integrated to share best practices in landfill maintenance with municipal staff.
