Challenges awaiting you
- Participate in the review of plans and specifications
- Perform construction site inspections and prepare site visit and follow-up reports
- Ensure structural work complies with approved plans, specifications, and shop drawings
- Verify the quality of workmanship and compliance with project technical requirements
- Inspect the conformity of structural materials and assemblies (steel, concrete, wood, or masonry, depending on the project)
- Monitor and follow up on deficiency lists
- Prepare site instructions and ensure their technical and administrative follow-up
- Collaborate in monitoring financial impacts and schedule implications
- Interpret plans, drawings, and technical specifications to ensure coordination between disciplines
- Participate in site meetings
- Perform measurements and progress quantity calculations
- Monitor contractors’ schedules and progress
- Collaborate with material testing laboratories regarding inspections, testing, and results, and communicate relevant information to the design team
- Apply applicable codes, standards, and regulations in Québec, including the Québec Construction Code and structural design standards
- Assist, when required, with the review of shop drawings and technical data sheets submitted by contractors
- Perform surveys of existing structures and assist with drafting and documentation
- Participate in the inspection and assessment of existing structures for renovation and expansion projects
- Contribute to project design and management activities based on experience and interests
Profile we’re looking for
- Hold a College Diploma (DEC) in Civil Engineering Technology or Architectural Technology, or a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering or Construction Engineering
- Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in construction site inspection related to building structures
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of structural systems involving steel, concrete, wood, and masonry
- Experience in consulting engineering is considered an asset
- Hold an ASP Construction card
- Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in spoken and written French
- Knowledge of design and drafting software such as AutoCAD and Revit is considered an asset
