Paméla Ouellette : A key role at the heart of innovation at gbi

Paméla Ouellette has been a project accountant at gbi since 2021. Her day-to-day job ? She assists the project managers in analyzing and invoicing mandates. “I make sure that employees’ hours are properly allocated according to the progress of the project, and I work on amendments when a mandate changes along the way,” she explains.

This key role helps optimize resources, while ensuring the profitability of the consulting engineering firm’s projects. Since joining gbi, Paméla has developed a keen sense of analysis and a better understanding of civil engineering. She plays a key role as project accountant, optimizing resources and ensuring the profitability of the firm’s projects.

Coming from the transport and oil processing sector, Paméla was looking for a new professional challenge. “I wanted to broaden my skills and learn in a field I didn’t know yet.” After two invitations from gbi’s human resources team, she was finally convinced by gbi’s family-work balance approach. And she has never looked back.

Since her arrival, Paméla has developed a sharp sense of analysis and a better understanding of civil engineering. What’s her favorite thing about her role? “When a project is completed and we can calculate the profits generated for the departments, it’s very gratifying.”

On a day-to-day basis, she can count on a close-knit team. She would also like to emphasize the impact of a valued colleague: “I call her my godmother. She trained me, became a friend and someone I can trust. We’ve even bonded outside work. This colleague, Mélanie Beauvais, was a key figure for her, particularly during the pandemic.

What does Paméla particularly like about consulting engineering? “It’s a field that’s constantly evolving. You have to know how to analyze, be a perfectionist, enjoy working in a team and, above all, be willing to learn.” She is currently working on a major project with the City of Montreal.

It’s not always easy, there are frequent changes, but we stick together. It’s a great source of pride.

Paméla doesn’t just live the gbi experience at the office… she also shares it with her family! Her son, who loves to accompany her to the office, is already a proud ambassador. Outside work, when she’s not immersed in the numbers, Paméla gives way to her creativity. Passionate about art, piano and drawing, she also takes the time to relax by playing online games. I’m a gamer,” she says with a chuckle, “it allows me to switch off and clear my head completely.

When asked where she sees herself in five years, her answer is spontaneous:

Still at gbi. I’ve found my place.

Three words to describe gbi ?

Progressive, motivating and transparent.
