Sherbrooke and Notre-Dame Streets Roundabout

Sherbrooke and Notre-Dame Streets Roundabout

gbi is proud to have contributed to the construction of the first high-traffic roundabout in Quebec. This major project involved an integrated approach, combining expertise in engineering, environmental management, and transportation to optimize safety and traffic flow.

The firm managed the feasibility and traffic studies, the development concept, as well as the preliminary and final design phases. gbi also prepared the plans and specifications and oversaw the construction works for the roadway reconstruction, the railway viaduct, and the roundabout at the intersections of Sherbrooke and Notre-Dame streets, including the approaches to the Le Gardeur Bridge. The demolition of a road bridge adjacent to a preserved railway bridge was carried out with precision and in accordance with best practices for urban rehabilitation.

Thanks to effective coordination among the various trades and extensive expertise in biology, road engineering, civil structures, water management, and water and sewer networks, gbi successfully designed a sustainable and safe layout that addresses the challenges of heavy and complex traffic.
