Wastewater Treatment Plant of the City of Gatineau

Commissioned in 1982, the City of Gatineau’s wastewater treatment plant, which uses a conventional activated sludge process, plays a key role in the treatment of municipal wastewater.

Over the decades, the facility has undergone numerous projects involving the addition, replacement, and modernization of equipment and systems, the optimization of treatment processes, and the gradual increase of its capacity to meet the growing needs of the population.

This major rehabilitation program includes 114 projects, grouped into five design and construction packages. Its primary objective is to ensure the long-term sustainability of the facilities, improve the plant’s operational flexibility, and increase its treatment capacity.
