To support its continued growth and meet its expanding workspace requirements, Devolutions undertook the expansion of its headquarters in Lavaltrie.

The project involved constructing a new 37,750 sq. ft. building spanning four levels, including three storeys and a basement.

The expansion added new office spaces, meeting rooms, and washroom facilities, creating a modern, functional environment tailored to the organization’s evolving needs.

Multidisciplinary expertise driving the project

The gbi team provided mechanical, electrical, structural, and civil engineering services throughout the project.

For the building’s mechanical systems, our professionals designed the plumbing, domestic water distribution, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to ensure occupant comfort. The building is equipped with air-source heating and cooling units, while the basement storage areas are ventilated through heat recovery systems that contribute to the facility’s overall energy performance.

In electrical engineering, our team designed the electrical distribution systems, interior lighting, emergency lighting, and equipment connections. We also coordinated the necessary work with Hydro-Québec for the electrical service connection to the new addition. The project further included the installation of several electric vehicle charging stations to meet the current and future needs of building occupants.

For the structural design, gbi engineered the building’s foundations and structural framework, incorporating innovative solutions such as box girders and a long-span steel deck to meet the client’s functional requirements.

Our civil engineering mandate included the design of the private watermain and sanitary sewer connections, stormwater drainage management, and the exterior site improvements surrounding the new addition, including curbs, sidewalks, asphalt paving, and grading work.
