Le Sentier

Le Sentier

Located in Rawdon, near Lake Pontbriand, the “Le Sentier” project represents the first phase in the development of a new large-scale residential area. In this context, gbi was mandated to carry out civil engineering work related to urban infrastructure, with a focus on road foundation design and stormwater management.

The project includes the construction of nearly 4.8 kilometres of road foundations, along with the development of ditches and the installation of several culverts of varying sizes. Carried out in seven phases, this work is intended to ensure effective surface water management while preparing the site for future residential development.

gbi’s expertise was deployed throughout all stages of the mandate, including the design of preliminary and final plans and specifications, completion of a hydraulic study, culvert sizing, and verification of regulatory compliance with the MELCCFP. The team also carried out topographic surveys, a Phase I environmental site assessment, cost estimation, and on-site construction supervision.

The project presents several technical challenges, including variable soil conditions, controlled fill areas, and sectors with significant elevation changes. Additional considerations include the protection of surrounding wetlands and the execution of work during the winter season.

Through a rigorous approach tailored to site constraints, gbi is contributing to the development of sustainable and high-performance infrastructure, essential to the successful implementation of this new living environment.
