Wind Farm Structural Assessment

As part of the operation of a major wind farm in Canada comprising more than one hundred wind turbines, gbi was mandated to assess the condition of foundations exposed to particularly harsh climatic conditions, including intense freeze-thaw cycles.
These constraints, combined with the dynamic loads generated by high-capacity wind turbines, represent a significant challenge for infrastructure durability.
gbi’s intervention was carried out in two phases, starting with a preliminary technical opinion based on document review and site inspection, followed by a detailed expert report. This included identifying the probable causes of the observed cracking, assessing associated risks, and providing technical recommendations for repair and prevention.
Through a structured and rigorous approach, the mandate helps optimize intervention strategies to ensure asset longevity while proposing sustainable and cost-effective solutions.
