Philippe Malo’s career path has been anything but linear, and that is precisely what makes it so rich. With a degree in political science and experience in the media world, he found his way into consulting engineering by chance.
“I didn’t follow a traditional path into consulting engineering, but this diversity of experiences helps me see things differently.”

Since 2011, he has been putting his analytical skills and ability to structure ideas to work within gbi’s service proposal team.
In his role, Philippe acts as a business development support resource. He delivers training, contributes to quality control, and serves as a reference for his colleagues. “My job is to help showcase the firm. That involves refining documents, a lot of statistical analysis, as well as knowledge sharing.”
Both strategic and detail-oriented, his contribution lies as much in big-picture thinking as in the details that set a proposal apart. No two days are alike. “We constantly have to adapt to the company’s needs and new challenges.” This reality requires listening, flexibility, and continuous improvement. The service proposal team brings together a variety of profiles, and this diversity strengthens the quality of the submissions. “Everyone comes from a different background. We exchange a lot and learn from one another. Collaboration is essential.” Mentorship, adaptability, and reinvention are an integral part of his daily routine.
When preparing a proposal, the main challenge always remains the same: fully understanding the client’s needs. “You really have to grasp the problem and determine how gbi can address it in a clear and distinctive way.” Standing out while meeting tight deadlines requires both rigor and creativity. The greatest sense of pride comes at the time of submission. “When we deliver a tailored proposal and feel that we’ve truly understood the client’s reality, that’s when we know we’ve done a good job.”

What he appreciates most about gbi is the human environment. “The collaborative aspect, the closeness, the flexibility. There is room for new ideas. It’s dynamic, and young talent innovates and stands out.”
For him, enjoying what you do changes everything. “When you like your job, it becomes natural and it’s enjoyable to come into the office.”
In parallel, Philippe has nurtured a passion for student sports for the past seven years. He runs a blog and also hosts a podcast, two complementary platforms that allow him to reach a loyal and engaged community. “I learned to read by reading the sports section in La Presse. Telling sports stories is a way of telling stories.” A passion that aligns with his daily work: analyzing, structuring information, and highlighting talent.
gbi in three words, according to Philippe :
“Enjoyment. Dynamism. Expertise.”
