Since he was young, Julien has always enjoyed understanding how things work.
Whether it was a small everyday object or a large-scale infrastructure project, this curiosity naturally led him toward a field where technology, critical thinking, and problem-solving converge.

In high school, he saw himself pursuing a more technical rather than theoretical career path. He initially enrolled in the Industrial Electromechanical Technology program at Cégep Ahuntsic with the goal of becoming a technologist. Influenced by friends already pursuing engineering studies, and inspired by his father, an electrician by trade, he ultimately decided to continue his education at the École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS), where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
In 2015, Julien joined gbi and discovered the world of consulting engineering. He quickly found his place through design work, the preparation of plans and specifications, construction site supervision, and the responsibilities that come with engineering projects. To this day, design remains what motivates him most. He hopes to continue growing in this role, which allows him to leverage his technical expertise while contributing directly to project delivery.
gbi’s strenght
What Julien particularly appreciates about gbi is the emphasis placed on quality. “Here, quality comes before quantity,” he explains. He also values the work environment, the open-mindedness of his colleagues, and the opportunity to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
His days are varied and require a high level of organization. Team meetings, deliverable management, specification writing, office-based supervision, and site visits mean that no two projects are ever quite the same. To stay efficient, Julien structures his schedule into focused work blocks and carefully plans his tasks in advance. He especially enjoys visiting construction sites, particularly those located around the Greater Montreal area, where he can see firsthand the progress of the projects he helps bring to life.
Over the years, he has also built strong working relationships across multiple disciplines. He regularly collaborates with Water sector teams, as well as mechanical and structural specialists. For him, this multidisciplinary environment is one of the greatest advantages of working at gbi. “Every project comes with its own set of challenges and learning opportunities. You’re constantly stepping outside your routine,” he says.
Career Highlights
Among the projects that have left a lasting impression on him is the Saint-Philippe Water Treatment Plant. This large-scale mandate combined several smaller projects into one major undertaking and involved numerous technical constraints. Despite the challenges, the project allowed him to develop new expertise and remains an important milestone in his career. He also has fond memories of the Place Karl-Tremblay project, whose artistic dimension gave him a great sense of professional pride.
Outside of work, Julien dedicates most of his time to his family, which remains his top priority. A photography and astrophotography enthusiast, he enjoys spending his evenings capturing celestial phenomena. He also plays dek hockey every week and likes to unwind by playing video games.
When asked to describe gbi in a few words, his answer comes naturally: teamwork, collaboration, and expertise. For Julien, the company’s strength lies in the cohesion of its teams, the experience of its people, and everyone’s commitment to working toward a common goal.
“We’re a close-knit group. There’s a strong spirit of collaboration, genuine open-mindedness, and a real commitment to work-life balance. That’s what makes the difference.”
