The new Beaupré Aquatic Complex provides a modern and accessible space for all users. It features a 25-metre, four-lane lap pool, a recreational pool for all ages, and a children’s wading pool with indoor and outdoor water play features, accessible to people with reduced mobility via a ramp.
The facility also includes universal changing rooms, ensuring easy access for all visitors.
Designed according to LEED-inspired criteria, the complex incorporates energy-efficient solutions including a geothermal network for pool water heating and air conditioning, LED lighting, and energy recovery systems, providing optimal energy performance while minimizing environmental impact.
Project Complexity and Features
The project faced several constraints, including limited available space and the presence of a significant groundwater source, which required specific design and construction measures.
The building height was carefully considered to allow seamless connection to the existing community centre while maintaining universal accessibility. The facility also incorporates a geothermal borefield and energy-efficient mechanical systems, ensuring the long-term sustainability and performance of the building.

Site Integration and Environment
Located at the foot of Mont-Sainte-Anne, renowned for alpine skiing, the aquatic complex benefits from an exceptional natural setting. Equipment was installed to minimize noise and harmonize with the surrounding residential areas, maintaining a minimal impact on the neighbourhood and fostering a strong connection with the natural environment.
gbi’s Involvement
gbi was involved throughout all key phases of the project, from the preliminary study to construction supervision, including concept development, preliminary design, and final plans and specifications. This multidisciplinary approach enabled the delivery of an integrated, high-performing facility that meets community needs and current environmental standards.
